Diamond Color
Diamond color measures how colorless a stone is. Graded D to Z, the less color a diamond shows, the rarer and more valuable it becomes.
The Color Scale
From icy colorless (D) to faint warmth (Z). The right grade depends on your setting and budget.
D–FG–JK–MN–Z
- D–F (Colorless) — the rarest and most premium; pure, icy white.
- G–J (Near Colorless) — excellent value; appears white in most settings.
- K–M (Faint) — a subtle warmth, lovely in yellow or rose gold.
- N–Z — visible tint; often chosen for a vintage, warm look.
A Simple Tip
Warm metals like yellow and rose gold complement slightly warmer color grades beautifully — so you can choose a lower grade and put the savings toward cut or carat.
