From the moment you say yes to the day you say I do — this guide covers choosing the perfect lab grown diamond engagement ring and the wedding bands you'll wear forever.
Engagement Rings
- Cut — the biggest driver of sparkle, and the only C that cannot be corrected later. Every RINOVA stone is Excellent cut.
- Colour — graded D (colourless) to Z. We set E–F only, which is colourless to the eye against any metal.
- Clarity — the fewer inclusions, the higher the grade. Ours are VVS — invisible even under magnification.
- Carat — the diamond's weight, not its size. Shape and cut change how large it looks.
Because cut, colour and clarity are fixed, carat weight is the only choice that moves the price — which makes the decision considerably simpler.

From classic round to elegant oval, emerald, marquise and pear — each shape has its own character and suits a particular style of ring. Elongated shapes look larger for their carat weight; step cuts need higher clarity.

The setting shapes how the diamond is shown and protected:
- Prong — lifts the stone for maximum light and sparkle.
- Halo — a ring of smaller diamonds that makes the centre stone read larger.
- Bezel — a modern, secure setting that wraps the stone's edge — the best choice for active hands.
- Pavé — small diamonds along the band for continuous sparkle.
Ring Size Chart
Measure a Ring She Already Wears
The most accurate method, and the easiest to do secretly. Take a ring worn on the correct finger, place a ruler across the inside of the band, and measure the widest point in millimetres. That is the inside diameter — find it in the chart below.
Measure the Finger with String
Wrap a strip of paper or a piece of string snugly around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, then measure the length in millimetres. That is the circumference — the second column in the chart.

Conversions are approximate and vary slightly between manufacturers. When a measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend the larger one.
- Measure at the end of the day — fingers are at their largest. Measuring first thing in the morning gives a size that will feel tight by evening.
- Avoid extremes of temperature — cold shrinks fingers noticeably, heat and exercise swell them. Room temperature, at rest, is the honest measurement.
- Wide bands need a larger size — anything above about 6mm wide covers more of the finger and feels tighter. Go up a half size.
- Check the knuckle — the ring has to pass over it. If the knuckle is much wider than the base of the finger, size to the knuckle and we can add sizing beads inside.
- The dominant hand is usually larger — often by a quarter to a half size. Measure the finger that will actually wear the ring.
If the Size Is Wrong
It happens, and it is not a problem. Most rings can be resized once, free of charge, within 60 days of delivery — you cover only the shipping. Full eternity bands and certain channel-set designs cannot be resized at all, because the stones run the whole way around. We will always tell you before you order if that applies to the piece you have chosen.

Expert Tip: Matching Bands
Keep the wedding band and engagement ring in the same metal if they sit together on the same finger. Where two different metals rub against each other every day, the softer one slowly wears away — a problem that takes years to show and is expensive to put right.
How do I choose the best engagement ring?

What's the most popular diamond shape?

How can I measure my partner's ring size secretly?
Borrow a ring she already wears on that finger and measure the inside diameter in millimetres, then use the chart above. Failing that, a friend or her mother almost always knows.
What if I order the wrong size?

Should the wedding band match the engagement ring?
It does not have to match in style, but it should match in metal if the two are worn together.
Is platinum better than gold?
Neither is better. Platinum is denser, naturally white and never needs replating. Gold is lighter, warmer and available in more tones. It is preference, not quality.
Are lab grown diamonds a good choice?
They are a real diamond with a traceable origin, IGI certified, and considerably less than a mined stone of the same grade. The one honest caveat: resale value is lower. Buy one to wear, not as an investment.
